Description: | A calibration-free ammeter is developed on the basis of NV color centers in synthetic diamond. This is made possible by the quantum properties of these defect centers (spin coherence time), whose measured quantity can be traced back to fundamental quantities (g-factor, Bohr magnetron). It is advantageous that these quantum properties are accessible under comparatively simple external conditions and can be generated even at room temperature. The assembly is to be built with low-cost components in a largely industrialized process. The scalability of the technologies to a mass product is always important for all manufacturing steps starting from diamond synthesis, diamond processing and the assembly of the optical components up to the system assembly. For the first time, procedures for quality assurance and standardization are proposed for the diamond technologies used, which should also be transferable to neighboring application fields. The ammeter is only one example of a series of measuring devices and quantum standards, such as quantum voltage standards or microwave standards. Although these are not to be developed in the project, they can be derived from the project goals as further products, since the diamond materials developed and the integration technology can be adopted for the entire product range. | |
