Vital Monitoring - BDMon / In-Ear Sensor for Non-Invasive Beat-to-Beat Blood Pressure Monitoring
German title: | Vitalmonitoring - BDMon / In-Ohr-Sensor für das nicht-invasive Schlag-zu-Schlag-Blutdruckmonitoring
Acronym: | BDMon | |
Duration: | 1st January 2022 - 30th June 2024
Description: | Further development of an optical in-ear sensor for determining the course of blood pressure and transfer to emerging systems. Blood pressure is one of the most important determinants in the cardiovascular system and represents one of the most frequently recorded parameters in clinical routine. The cuff used in the standard procedure is perceived as annoying by many patients. In addition, only the measurement of the individual values, systole and diastole with low time resolution is possible. Continuous blood pressure measurement - of high relevance for perioperative monitoring, emergency response or improved diagnostics and prognostics - can currently only be measured invasively and through a catheter or non-invasively through a very expensive research measurement technique that has not become established in clinical routine. Therefore, the aim is to develop a non-invasive measurement device for broad clinical application for robust beat-to-beat blood pressure monitoring with high accuracy, low susceptibility to artifacts and high wearing comfort as well as suitability for mobile use. The core of the innovation is the photoplethysmography (PPG) based measurement method with an in-ear sensor. |
