On 30th January 2024, SPIE Photonics West will start in San Francisco, one of the international events for solutions, components and system support for the optics and photonics industry. The CiS Forschungsinstitut will once again be exhibiting at the German Pavilion in Hall F at booth 4205-05 in the Moscone Center. We will be presenting the following technologies and current research results as trade fair highlights:
Avalanche photodiode with enhanced blue & ultra violet amplification
APDS are widely used for low level light detection. Standard APDs have a peak sensitivity at wavelengths > 500 nm. Our new BV-APD achieves outstanding performance for UV and blue light.
Possible applications are
- Fluorescence light detection and microscopy
- Spectrometry
- Stray light detection
- Electromagnetic calorimeter
- any other low light effects

Infrared emitters with dynamics > 100 Hz
Infrared MEMS emitters are high performance alternatives to classical heat bulbs. These thermal emitters can cover the spectral range from 2 to 15 µm and achieve dynamic modulations of up to 30 Hz. Within a recent development, we even shifted the dynamics beyond the 100 Hz level.
Possible applications are driven by the non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensing technology, that is applied for:
- Gas sensors / concentration for medical and industrial application
- Oil status / concentration
