Cycling for a good climate – under this motto, the city of Erfurt participated again this year in the “Stadtradeln” (city cycling) campaign, which is organized in more than 25 European countries by the Climate Alliance. The 15-member team of the CiS Research Institute was among the participants. During the 21 days our team cycled 2,750 km and came 65th out of 186 participating teams. With their cycled kilometers, 446 kg of CO2 were avoided and actions to promote inner-city cycling were supported. In addition, the Environment and Nature Conservation Office donates a tree for every 1,000 bicycle kilometers cycled during the campaign period.
In total, more than 3,000 active participants took part in this year’s city cycling and covered more than 597,000 km by muscle power. More than 97 tons of CO2 were avoided, surpassing last year’s result. We congratulate all participants on this sporting and climate-protecting contribution.
