ams & CiS Forschungsinstitut enter into strategic R&D partnership
The CiS Research Institute has been developing sensors for the measurement and monitoring of important vital parameters for many years and can refer to a profound expertise in this field. With the optical in-ear sensor, the heart rate, heart rate variability and blood oxygen saturation can be detected on the basis of photoplethysmography (PPG), which has been demonstrated several times by preliminary studies in the clinical environment and in various everyday situations.
A milestone in the development of the sensor is the patented, cuff-free method for continuous measurement of blood pressure changes of individual heartbeats. ams OSRAM is a global leader in optical solutions with a multi-year experience in the field of vital sign monitoring. Vital sign sensors by ams OSRAM enable the measurement of for example blood pressure, blood oxygen or hear rate in wearables.
ams OSRAM has taken notice of the results by CiS Research Institute and joined a strategic partnership. The CiS Research Institute will support ams OSRAM in the development of innovative optical sensor solutions for the detection of vital signs and will provide know-how on the developed procedures and sensor architectures. Both partners firmly expect to gain synergy effects from the cooperation in order to make such sensors and the procedures available to patients and end users in the form of wearables and hearables in the near future.
The ams brand is owned by ams AG, the OSRAM brand is owned by OSRAM GmbH. The combination of the ams and OSRAM brand is not representing a new brand.
