On the initiative of the German-Arab Friendship Society, a group of Arab ambassadors visited the CiS Research Institute on April 1, 2019. Under the leadership of Dr. Mustapha Adib, Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic and doyen of the Council of Arab Ambassadors, the participants from several Arab states were able to gain a small insight into the high-tech location Erfurt-Southeast. Prof. Ortlepp, Managing Director of the CiS Research Institute, opened the program. As a member of the Research and Technology Association of Thuringia, he presented the individual research portfolios of the 9 research institutions in Thuringia that are closely related to industry. These form a bridge between basic research and industry and work closely together with small and medium-sized companies.
Mr Bremer, Head of the International | Innovation and Environment Department at the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), reported on the IHK’s activities and presented the concept of dual vocational training.
Prof. Sattler, Prorector Science of the TU Ilmenau explained the research fields and study possibilities at this university. With a share of almost 35% of foreign students from 97 countries, this university is also internationally recognized. Especially Master’s programmes with English-language courses, Double-Degree Programs with selected cooperation partners and structured graduate programs further expand the international orientation.
With his presentation, Dr. Kittler, Innovation Manager of X-FAB, gave an overview of the world’s leading foundry group for analog and mixed analog-digital semiconductor applications. The company is active in the field of dual education and, together with the CiS Research Institute, is also an educational institution in the field of microtechnologies. First contacts were made during the final networking.
