“Microtechnologies for a smart world” is the slogan of this year’s IVAM Hightech Summit in Bochum on 3rd & 4th May 2023. At the English-language conference in the Mining Museum Bochum, micro- and nanotechnology companies will meet and network to present and discuss their latest products and developments. A total of nine sessions and two workshops will highlight technological innovations that are making the world smarter in everyday life and the environment, health and care, and production and industry.
Prof. Thomas Ortlepp, Managing Director of CiS Research Institute will moderate the session “Smart Mobility” on 3rd May starting at 3:40 PM and open the discussion with the presentation “MEMS Development for Smart Mobility – Driver Condition Monitoring for Safety”.
High efficiency, small sizes and relatively low manufacturing costs are driving the use of MEMS sensors in vehicle technology to support active and passive safety. The increasing demand of electric cars worldwide reinforces this trend, for example to monitor batteries or hydrogen-powered fleets. Piezoresistive sensors in particular, which measure pressures and forces, perform a wide range of measurements in vehicles and have been a development focus at the CiS Research Institute for 30 years.
