This is the motto of today’s Optonet e.V. webinar in Jena. The goal is to present the benefits of multi-physical multi-domain models to reduce development times, optimize parameters and quickly produce prototypes.
Our colleague Dr. Bernhard Schwartz from the Simulation and Design Department at the CiS Research Institute will report on research results from the innovative regional growth core “Virtual Product and Process Optimization (VIPO)” funded by the BMBF. Here, the focus is on the digitalization of the product life cycle, which will become a decisive competitive factor in the future.
In his contribution “Coupling of optical and semiconductor-physical simulation tools – using the example of a miniaturized Hanbury Brown-Twiss device”, the connection of the software solutions of LightTrans VirtualLab Fusion and Silvaco ATLAS as well as ATHENA is shown. For this purpose, three concepts for miniaturizing the beam splitter configuration will be presented and the coupling will be shown by means of an example. In order to ensure a consistent workflow with respect to the simulation of optoelectronic systems, interfaces have been developed to link the different physical domains, semiconductor physics and optics. Thanks to the coupled simulations, the basis for an automated optimization of the entire optoelectronic system is created.
