NOBIS is a completely new concept in sensor technology. The integrated programming platform allows customer-specific solutions to be implemented as quickly as possible. The freely programmable sensor software enables a wide range of applications.
As a standard sensor, the NOBIS edge detector can already detect object leading and trailing edges. It features error detection and an integrated adjustment aid. The sensor is characterized by a particularly small design. It can process object velocities of up to 15 m/s. The absolute accuracy is approx. 100 µm and the repeatability approx. 10 µm (depending on the illumination). A commercially available IR LED can be used as illumination.
Possible applications of the NOBIS edge sensor would be for example:
Object positioning, measurement of length, time and speed, object flow control and process monitoring. Here it can be used for thread breakage control or for the control of webs of fabric, foil or paper. Particularly noteworthy is the detection of object widths and thicknesses, e.g. for wire thickness monitoring in the wire industry.
